Teaching is a job like no other.

It’s a unique and hugely rewarding career, as it combines a rich range of professional skills with creativity and personal satisfaction, allowing you to make a real difference and have a lifelong impact on the lives of children.

St Clare CMAT offers School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) in partnership with Sheffield SCITT.

Why Train to Teach at St Clare Catholic Multi Academy Trust?

As a partnership school of Sheffield SCITT, we support aspiring teachers to develop a wide range of skills in our classrooms.

The Sheffield SCITT approach is based on what Headteachers are looking for in their Newly Qualified Teachers: professionals who have spent the whole year in school experiencing the full calendar cycle of the school year and being involved in every aspect of the professional teacher’s role in their schools.

Training to teach with Sheffield SCITT means being prepared for the rigours of qualified teaching, so you can progress more quickly in your career.
The course will entail four days per week in school, guided by an experienced mentor every step of the way. One day per week, you will join other teacher trainees for ‘hub days’, where you’ll be trained on how to walk and talk like a teacher, plan lessons effectively, manage behaviour, and stretch and challenge students.

You can choose either a QTS-only route or opt to study for a Master’s level PGCE alongside QTS.
