The Academy Trust Handbook requires that the trust publish on its website, in a separate readily accessible form, the number of employees whose benefits exceed £100k in £10K bandings, as an extract from the disclosure contained in it financial statements and including the a prior year’s comparative figures.
Where the trust has entered into an off-payroll arrangement with someone who is not an employee, the amount paid by the trust for that person’s work for the trust must also be included in the website disclosure where payment exceeds £100k as if they were an employee.
Benefits for this purpose include salary, employers’ pension contribution, other taxable benefits and termination payments.
The Department for Education (DfE) issued the Trust with a notice to improve in March 2026. This is a process that occurs when the DfE recognises specific areas for improvement for a MAT to undertake. The notice relates to safeguarding measures in relation to the tragic death of Harvey Willgoose at All Saints Catholic High School on 3 February 2025. It has been issued and applies to the whole Trust as the Trust is responsible for the school.
Harvey’s death was a tragic and shocking incident for everyone across All Saints and our wider Trust community. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies remain with Harvey’s family, loved ones and friends.
Our Trust is working closely with the DfE in relation to the notice. The DfE has requested that the Trust undertake a number of actions. We have confirmed to the DfE that each of the seven requested actions for the Trust to carry out are already underway in line with the various processes that the Trust has been involved in over the past year and the actions it has taken since February 2025. We have provided information on the actions already taken and are working at pace with the DfE on further implementation. The DfE has also acknowledged that the Trust is working collaboratively and has already taken positive steps.
The Board of the Trust will be working with the DfE and other key partners over the coming months to finalise the actions and ensure that the notice is another step in this process to continuously strengthen and improve practice across All Saints and all our schools.
The Board of the Trust is absolutely committed to doing all that we can to ensure that we adopt and implement learning and best practice. From the outset, we have proactively engaged with the statutory safeguarding agencies and will continue to do so with a clear focus on providing the best possible environment for students.
We are immensely grateful to the hard-working staff across our schools and for the continued support of our pupils and parents. Our focus as a Trust is providing a safe and positive learning environment for all our pupils across every school.
